"I Am the Walrus" was based on Carroll's "The Walrus & The Carpenter" as Jabbatut pointed out, but was more along the lines of Carroll's "Jabberwocky" in terms of nonsense. the lyrics all have some foundation in Lennon's childhood and early adult life pre-Beatles. the lyric about the Eggman is supposedly about Eric Burdon, of fellow Brit band 4/5(24).

“I Am the Walrus (“”No You’re Not,”” said little Nicola)” is a miraculous composition on every level. Théâtre at its best, the piece defies all convention. It is a masterpiece the best “song” on the best album “The Magical Mystery Tour” our beloved Beatles ever recorded.

Both "I Am the Walrus" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" draw heavily from Carroll's writings. Even more interesting is that Lennon repeats the Humpty Dumpty/eggman imagery in both songs. Drug-inspired or not, it certainly seems that Lewis Carroll was very much on .
